Sagging of the upper, back and inner parts of the arm is often associated with fat deposits and sagging skin. Another reason for sagging is related to old age, gravity and intermittent weight loss. Because the skin and subcutaneous tissue are looser in these areas. The rate of fat tissue accumulated with sagging varies from person to person. For this reason, each patient who will undergo arm lift aesthetics should be evaluated individually. Arm lift surgeries can be performed alone or in combination with breast reduction, breast lift, tummy tuck, leg lift and liposuction. Arm lift surgery must first be performed in a hospital with adequate equipment. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 1-3 hours. It will be enough to stay under observation in the hospital for one day after the surgery. Because there will not be any uncomfortable pain.

What is arm lift surgery and to whom is it performed?

Arm lift surgery is the procedure in which excess fat and skin in the arm area of the person is removed and thin and taut-looking arms are provided. Arm lift surgeries are usually performed on women aged 40 and over. Arm lift aesthetics can be performed on anyone who has excess fat and skin in the arm area and is uncomfortable with this appearance.

What should be considered before arm lift surgery?

As with all surgeries, you should stop smoking, aspirin, blood thinners and similar substances about two to three weeks before the arm lift surgery. Just before the surgery, you will need to give your doctor the necessary information about your general health condition and the medications you use. You should not use painkillers such as Apranax, vermidon and voltaren, multivitamin pills, green tea, tomato seeds, cherry stem, flaxseed and all weight loss products.

How are arm lift surgeries performed?

Arm lift surgery is started by making an “L” shaped incision from the armpit to the elbow. Mostly, only excess skin is removed from the patient and arm tension is increased. However, liposuction method is added to the arm lift procedure in patients whose arms are too thick. If this method is added, the operation will be more successful. While the operation is performed under general anesthesia, the duration of the operation varies between half an hour and three hours.

What will I experience after arm lift surgery?

Patients can go home after arm lift surgery. There is a protective bandage over the stitches for two days after the surgery. Since all of these stitches remain under the skin, the stitches do not need to be removed. At the end of two days, patients can easily take their baths. Patients should avoid excessive arm movement for the first three weeks after surgery. The biggest problem to be experienced after arm lift surgery is the scars left on the arms. These scars are not visible when viewed from the opposite side. Since the scars will remain on the inside of the patient’s arms, only the patient will see them. If these scars heal smoothly, they will fade after six months. You will need to wear a corset continuously for 4 weeks after the arm lift surgery. The first dressing will be applied on the 5th day after the surgery. In this process, you may have mild numbness, bruising and edema, but these will disappear quickly. You can easily return to your work life within a week after the surgery.

Is the result of arm lift surgery permanent?

Since the aging process will continue after arm lift surgery, there may be some loosening. Subsequent weight gain and loss will accelerate this process. But your arms will never return to their old state. Patients should watch their weight and do regular sports in order to maintain the result after the surgery.

In patients who have lost a significant amount of weight or who have developed loose skin as a result of aging, brachioplasty, often known as an arm lift, can be used to remove the excess skin and fat from the upper arms. However, in order to maximize the negative effects of scarring, this procedure should be performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Excess skin on the arms is no match for our skilled surgeons. The amount and placement of extra skin determine the size and shape of the incision.  The incisions can range in length from the underarm to the area just above the elbow and are typically made on the inside of the arm or the rear of the arm.

How is arm lift done?

Brachioplasty often used to tighten skin that has loosened as a result of pregnancy or weight reduction.

The surgery is performed using two incisions, The first incision is made from the armpit to the elbow, and the second incision is made from the armpit to the shoulder on the outer side of the arm.

The surgeon will cut away any extra skin, fat, or connective tissue before tightening the skin that’s left with stitches or sutures. After the healing process is complete, the arm will have a leaner, more defined appearance.
