Breast lift aesthetics, i.e. mastopexy; It is performed in order to give an aesthetic appearance by lifting the sagging breasts, to achieve harmony with body measurements, to obtain natural looking and symmetrical breasts. Breast lift operations are operations that can be applied to all women who have sagging breasts, who have given birth or not. The causes of sagging breasts can be seen structurally, in case of weight gain and loss, in the period after giving birth and due to the effect of gravity depending on age. To understand the sagging condition of your breast, you should first stand in front of the mirror and then you can understand whether there is sagging by evaluating your nipple and inframammary line. The sagging condition of the breast called breast ptosis is usually classified in 4 groups. These 4 groups are mild, moderate, severe and pseudo ptosis. If the nipple is at the level of the inframammary line or about 1 cm below it, it is mild. Moderate if the nipple is 1-3 cm below the inframammary line. Severe ptosis if the nipple is located more than 3 cm below. If the nipple is located above the normal inframammary line but the base of the breast is seen as sagging, this is false ptosis.

When should I opt for breast lift surgery?

If you have sagging breasts due to reasons such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, sudden weight change and aging, if you have sagging in your nipple or the tissue surrounding the nipple and your doctor thinks that it will not be possible to give the desired shape to the breast using only prosthesis, you may prefer breast lift surgery.

How is breast lift surgery performed?

Breast lift surgery can be performed with many different techniques. In the first technique, an “Inverted T” shaped incision is made around the nipple. This incision descends vertically from the nipple to the breast fold and continues horizontally along the fold. This technique is generally used in patients with advanced breast sagging. In our second technique, a “Lollipop” incision is made and the incision continues vertically from the nipple to the lower breast fold. This technique is generally used to lift breasts with moderate sagging. For patients with mild sagging, an incision is made only around the nipple. In all techniques, the tissues around the nipple are liberated first. Then, the excess tissue in the surrounding breast tissue is removed and the breast is given its new shape. After shaping, the nipple can be sewn in its ideal place.

How long does it take to recover after a breast lift?

After the breast lift operation, swelling can be seen in the breasts when the bandages on the body are removed. There may be a potency or deformity in the incision areas under the breast. These effects of the surgery will disappear in about a month. You will not have much pain after the operation. But sometimes swelling and bruises may occur in the breasts. These are discomforts that pass in a short time. After the surgery, it is recommended to use the bandage on your breast for 3 days. At the end of this period, you can use sports bras in the form of half an athlete. After the surgery, you can start exercises that exercise your arm and swimming activities after one month. Since dissolving stitches are used in breast lift surgeries, there will be no need for procedures such as removing the stitches after the surgery. After the breast lift operation, it takes 6 months to 1 year for all effects to recover, full shape and loss of sensation to recover.

Can I get pregnant and breastfeed my child after a breast lift?

How is a Breast lift done?

There are four types of incisions used in mastopexy:
1. The Anchor Incision
The most common boob lift incision is the anchor, made in a vertical line from the nipple to just above the bottom of your breast. That can be done as either a keyhole or an inframammary incision.  The latter creates scarring that extends beneath your breast; however, it reduces tension on your scars during surgery and can help reduce visible scarring.
2. The Lollipop Incision
That incision starts at the top of each breast (over your nipple) and continues through each areola (periareolar). The scar ends below each nipple with “tails” extending outward toward your armpits.  While that cut leaves less visible lines than others, it’s often combined with other types so that other cuts or folds hide them in the skin.
3. The Donut Incision
The donut incision is the most common type of breast lift incision. It is circular and located in the center of each breast, just above the nipple. The size of the circle depends on how much tissue needs to be removed. The edges are sewn together with dissolvable stitches to create an approximately two inches-wide donut-shaped scar.
4. The Crescent Incision
That type of incision is used when there is too much excess skin and tissue for a traditional breast lift. The surgeon makes two crescent cuts in each breast at opposite ends of the pectoral muscle, removes excess skin and fat, and sews up each incision with dissolvable stitches.  That results in a scar that resembles an archery bowstring across each breast from armpit to armpit.

Breast Enlargement with Breast lift

By combining a boob job and a breast lift procedure into a single, all-encompassing operation, we may add volume and lift to the breasts’ upper poles and set them higher on the chest.
Women who want to improve the size, shape, and position of their breasts for aesthetic reasons often choose to get a breast lift in conjunction with breast augmentation.
Under general anesthesia, a breast uplift with implants can be completed in a single day at an outpatient facility.

Good candidates for a Breast Lift Surgery

Due to gravity and the natural aging process, women who are experiencing sagging or drooping breasts are excellent candidates for breast uplift surgery. Mastopexy procedure may be an option if you’re experiencing issues like:
-Breasts that have sagged or drooped
-Nipples that point downward
-Areola enlargement
Women who have experienced dramatic weight loss may also be good candidates for breast lift surgery. It is common for the skin to lose its suppleness after being stretched to accommodate larger breasts. If this happens, you may need a breast lift to fix the sagging.

Breast Lift Recovery

The recovery time for breast lift typically takes a couple of weeks. The success of the operation depends on the patient’s compliance with certain directives given at this time. The patient will be given a customized bra to use while healing from a breast lift. It’s okay for patients to sleep face down. In 1-2 weeks, most patients feel well enough to return to work and other routine activities, including sports. Following the plastic surgeon’s post-operative instructions is crucial to a speedy and successful recovery.
