DHI Hair Implantation (Direct Hair Implantation) stands for “Direct Hair Implantation”. In this method, grafts are collected with a medical pen called choi, which should only be used by specialists, and then the hair is directly implanted into the skin without incisions or channels. In known hair transplantation methods, these two procedures are performed at separate times, but thanks to the special pen used, the procedure is reduced to one, providing comfort and convenience to the patient. In short, while the process is three-stage in the hair transplantation technique called FUE, it is two-stage in DHI. The aim of the application is to increase the quality of hair transplantation, to provide a dense appearance, to preserve the existing hairy appearance and to ensure that the person who has hair transplantation can quickly return to his daily life without shortening the hair.

How is hair transplantation performed with the Dhi technique?

Hair transplantation with the DHI technique can be performed under local anesthesia, with or without shaving. Hair follicles taken from the donor area are directly transplanted into the recipient area using a Dhi pen.

The follicular unit taken from the donor area is placed into the Choi needle. At an angle of 40-45 degrees, hair follicles of appropriate thickness placed in needles of different diameters are transplanted one by one to the area to be hair transplanted in accordance with the pre-created plan. While the Choi needle pushes the hair follicle, it simultaneously inserts the hair follicle into the channel it opens in the scalp.

At least 2 Choi pens and an average of 10-12 different Choi tips are used in the DHI hair transplant operation. The tips and pens, which vary in diameter, are individually selected before the operation according to the thickness of the hair strand.

What are the stages?

Local anesthesia is applied to the donor area to relax the hair follicles and the hair follicles are collected with a special pen. Then, the process of placing the collected hair follicles on the scalp begins with this special device.

The hair follicles are placed on the scalp with a special choi pen. This pen has a very thin, pointed tip, but due to its special structure, it has a tip into which hair follicles can be placed. This fine-tipped medical pen, which is inserted into the scalp at an appropriate angle, places the hair follicle in the scalp when the special area on the back is pressed.

This method, which is applied without damaging healthy tissues, is advantageous in terms of allowing much more frequent transplants.

The reason why this method is generally preferred is that the follicles are placed immediately after being harvested without waiting. This increases the retention rate and the likelihood that the grafts will remain healthy. Although it is a technique that has been around for a long time, its star has shone recently.

It is extremely important that the procedure, which takes about 10-12 hours, is performed by experienced people. As in robotic hair surgery and Fue method, control is performed on the first day after the procedure. Washing starts on the second day and continues for eight days.

What are the advantages?

  • Performing the process of opening the canal and placing the hair follicle in place at the same time allows the collected hair follicles to be placed in place without waiting for a long time.
  • It allows for more frequent transplantation and a more natural look.
  • Thanks to its special tool, the waiting time of the roots during hair transplantation is reduced. Thus, the risk of root loss is minimized.
  • Existing hair is not damaged. It is a method that can also be applied in patients with incomplete hair loss.
  • The patient experiences a fast recovery process.

Am I a suitable candidate for DHI hair transplantation?

You undergo a detailed examination before the hair transplantation operation with the DHI hair transplantation technique. General surgery protocol is applied at this stage to make sure that there is no health problem that will prevent the surgery. While the necessary tests and blood tests are performed, the donor area is analyzed.

A detailed personalized consultation according to the patient’s age and hair loss type is extremely important in terms of future hair loss and patient satisfaction in hair transplantation.

After DHI hair transplantation

One or two days after the dhi hair transplant surgery, wound care and the first wash is performed. The condition of the hair follicles is checked. After this stage, it gradually relaxes rapidly. The first few days are the most sensitive period in Dhi hair transplantation. After the second day, the patient can return to his/her country.

Hair loss can occur due to environmental factors such as nutrition and care, as well as various health problems such as alopecia (baldness) or hormonal imbalances. Especially in men, hair roots are extremely sensitive to testosterone hormone and this leads to an increase in hair loss due to the decrease in hormone levels with age. Different treatment methods have been developed to solve this problem, which can affect individuals of almost all ages, and only hair transplantation has been accepted as effective for the treatment of permanent hair loss called baldness.

Hair transplant methods, such as follicular unit extraction (FUE) and direct hair implantation (DHI), which are widely used today, can give extremely successful results when applied by experienced clinicians. DHI hair transplantation, which has many advantages over other methods, is one of the most preferred methods in recent years.

What is DHI Hair Transplantation?

DHI Hair Transplantation is considered one of the most advantageous methods in terms of both short recovery time and the possibility of performing multiple hair transplants in a single session. This method, which aims to thicken hairless areas without damaging the hair and healthy roots in the skin, provides a hair transplant procedure with a much denser and natural appearance. Before the procedure, hair roots are examined in detail with high-resolution imaging devices.

The person’s hair type, the condition of healthy hair roots, current hair density and hair loss severity, and the characteristics of the designated donor area are determined, and the general condition of the area where the hair transplantation will be performed is examined in detail. Then, the most suitable hair transplantation is designed for the person, and the procedure is started with local anesthesia applications.

How is DHI hair transplantation done?

In DHI hair transplantation, hair follicles taken from the person’s back head area are generally preferred. Healthy hair roots located in the donor area are carefully removed with a micro-motor device, which is an extremely advanced technological device. Then, the removed hair roots are placed in a special solution, thus ensuring the viability of each hair root.

After the removal of the roots from the donor area, anesthesia is applied to the area where the transplantation will be performed, and the transplantation procedure is started. Designing the appropriate hair for the person before the DHI procedure is crucial. In this way, new hair roots are placed in accordance with the direction of each hair, and the natural hair structure is preserved.

Then, healthy roots removed safely through micro-tips are directly transplanted into areas where hair loss occurs. Thanks to the DHI method, which does not require difficult procedures such as opening channels in the hairless area before hair transplantation, both the number of sessions required for a successful result is reduced, and no tissue damage such as scars is observed after the procedure, and the recovery time is significantly reduced.

Advantages of DHI hair transplantation

  • When performing a DHI hair transplant, a specific Choi pen is used so that no shaving is necessary.
  • The areas of hair that have not been totally gone are simple to access during a DHI hair transplant.
In the DHI procedure, the canals are not opened.
  • Because the patient does not have to wait in between sessions, the duration of the procedure as a whole is reduced.
  • Root loss can be kept to a minimum by quickly opening the canal and inserting the roots.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a hair transplantation method in which hair follicles are implanted directly into the balding area using a special pen (Choi Implanter Pen). This technique is considered a step of the FUE method but has a different application process.

Since local anesthesia is applied during the procedure, pain is usually not felt. However, there may be mild pain and discomfort after the procedure, which can usually be controlled with over-the-counter painkillers.

Yes, transplanted hair is usually permanent because the hair is taken from areas resistant to hair loss. However, there may be thinning over time due to the natural aging process and genetic factors.
