FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is one of the first methods that comes to mind when it comes to hair transplantation. The feature of the FUE method is that no incision is made on the scalp; this provides advantages both during the operation and in the healing process. In addition, the fact that there will be no scars and incision scars after the operation increases its preference for patients.

What are the stages of the FUE method?

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. After the area where the hair to be transplanted is prepared for the procedure, the suitable hair follicles are collected one by one. Root collection is performed with incision tips smaller than 1 mm (between 0.6 mm-0.8 mm) by means of the FUE motor. The follicles (grafts) taken contain 2-3 hairs. It is very important not to damage the follicles during this process. Since thousands of follicles will be removed from the donor area during hair transplantation, the small size of the tip to be used affects the healing process of the area.

After all hair follicles are collected, separation is followed by transplantation. For the transplantation process, channels must be opened very carefully. Canal opening is a process that requires at least as much precision and experience as root harvesting.

The lateral slit method, which has recently started to be preferred instead of the punch system while opening the canal, ensures that the channels suitable for the patient’s hair follicle size and length are opened by making incisions suitable for the structure of the hair. The channels opened in the right size and depth affect the growth rate of the transplanted hair in hair transplantation.

Another important issue is the angle of the channel where the hair follicle will be transplanted. The angles, which are the biggest factor in capturing the natural hair shape, should be different in each part of the head. Otherwise, the hair will not take the desired shape. Another factor for achieving naturalness is the correct determination of the hairline. The forehead area and the area where the hair begins should be calculated with the correct proportions.

How is FUE hair transplantation performed?

Hair follicles are collected from the nape of the head, channels are opened in the recipient area and hair follicles are transplanted into these channels. FUE hair transplantation is simply done in this way.

However, hair transplantation planning is created individually. Depending on the type of hair loss, the width of the area to be transplanted and the area of the head varies. This is the most important factor that determines the hair transplant planning.

FUE hair transplantation is performed with a hair transplantation plan created individually according to many parameters such as hair loss type and cause, age, hair type, skin type.

Depending on the number of grafts to be collected from the donor area and the number of channels to be opened in the recipient area, some details may vary in the application stages of FUE hair transplantation. For example, the general tendency is to collect grafts from the donor area first, but an approach such as opening the canals first may also be preferred in order to shorten the time the hair follicles spend outside.

In the FUE technique, the grafts collected from the donor area are grouped according to their thickness and number of roots before they are transplanted. This is the most important and sensitive stage of the FUE technique. In order not to kill the hair follicles, the time each graft stays outside is monitored. There are some sensitivities such as transplanting the first hair follicle first.

Am I a suitable candidate for FUE hair transplantation?

If the hair and hair follicles in the donor area are weak, it may not be possible to get the lush hair you expect even though you are a suitable candidate for FUE hair transplantation. Since hair loss caused by stress and hormonal changes starts at a very early age, the age of hair transplantation application is between 20 and 60, and the negative psychological effects of hair loss often increase the severity of hair loss. The shortest way out of this vicious circle is to apply to experts in this field and get the right information about hair transplantation without waiting to be completely bald. FUE hair transplantation is the most successful technique in hair transplantation, suitable for men and women of all ages.

After FUE hair transplantation

FUE hair transplantation is a long operation lasting 6-8 hours. After local anesthesia, the patient experiences an extremely comfortable surgical process. However, staying immobilized for a long time will make you feel tired.

This method is performed under local anesthesia. Using micro-motors or manual punches, hair follicles are taken one by one and placed in the designated recipient area. The duration of the procedure varies depending on the number of grafts to be transplanted.

People with good general health, hair loss and sufficient donor hair resources are suitable candidates for FUE hair transplantation. The type and level of hair loss also determines suitability.

The procedure time can vary between 4 and 8 hours depending on the number of grafts to be transplanted. Larger procedures can be spread over two days.
